€375,00 EUR

Own a piece of Seiko History with this Seiko Lord Marvel reference 5740-8000 because it features Seiko's first "real" hi-beat caliber - produced in 1973.

Seiko has this exact reference but in stainless steel at their Seiko Museum in Japan for exhibition.

This Seiko is a handwinding mechanical watch with Cal. 5740C - ticking 36000 beats per minute with 23 Jewels. It is in great working condition, measuring +6s/d with 180 amplitude and 0.6ms beat error flat on the timegrapher.

Besides the mechanical marvel that it is this is great vintage Seiko watch due to the dimensions: with a SGP  35mm case with 42mm lug-to-lug wearing relatively big on the wrist. It has a beautiful linnen dial with applied arabic numerals and Seiko's recognisable dauphine hands and the oversized crown.

It's in great condition with an original case in good, unpolished condition. It has small scratches mainly on the lugs but overall good condition.

This is reference LM36 costing only ¥15,000 in 1974.

All your questions answered

Are these Genuine Seiko Watches?

Yes - all watches offered on WatchEra are 100% genuine.

I have been collecting Seiko & Watches for over 10 years, had over 1500 different seiko's passed through my hands, are actively contributing to forums & groups and carefully - I even own a bunch of Seiko Catalogs & Books to use as reference.

  • If parts are replaced (like strap or crystal) this is always mentioned in the description.
  • I do not sell "redials", "mumbai specials" "seiko mods" or other franken-watches related.
  • To proof the authenticity, I'll give you all references available, the original model number and a picture of how the watch was depicted in the original vintage seiko dealer catalog.

Feel free to ask me any specific questions about vintage Seiko watches.

3 Months Warranty - How does it work?

All watches sold on WatchEra are working and any details important to the functionality are mentioned.

I do stand behind the quality of the watches that I sell and therefor offer a 3 month warranty on the movement.

At WatchEra - every watch that hits the store is checked by myself personally or by one of the watchmakers I work with.

However - most watches sold are used, vintage and sometimes very old wristwatches. Generally speaking I'm not aware of the (service) history or water resistance but will describe the current condition as transparant as possible.

How are you able to offer so much Vintage Seiko Watches?

That's the secret of the smith ofcourse, but to give a small insight:

I've been collecting vintage Seiko Watches myself for over 10 years and over the years I've built a net work of fellow seiko-collectors, watch resellers and other companies and individuals that are able to consistently offer high-quality genuine vintage Seiko's to me, mainly from Asia & Japan.

Next to that, I use alot of the same platforms that you might use and local marketplaces, watch fairs & auctions.

Also, do note that Seiko was one of the booming and most succesful watch companies throughout the 70s and 80s and millions of Seikos were produced & sold - my skill is finding the right ones for you :)
